Studio Update Fall 2020

To the Studio Family:

2020 has been…interesting…

We have enough things to start another verse to Billy Joel’s ‘We Didn’t Start the Fire.’

‘Schools close, Tom Hanks, trouble in the big banks, no vaccine, quarantine, no more toilet paper seen. Travel ban, Weinstein, panic COVID-One Nine, NBA, gone away, what else do I have to sayyyyyy…’

If you’re like us, you’ve had to deal with things out of your control, make decisions that feel right in the moment only to have to change them a day later, and grieve over things moved, delayed, or outright cancelled.

However, in all of the uncertainty, we’re moving forward. We’re dreaming. We’re scheduling. And we’re being as smart and as safe as we can.

If you’re signed up or considering signing up for lessons, sessions, dance, classes, performances or other events at The Studio, please read on…

We have a plan, a curated consensus from other fine arts institutions, paired with the latest guidelines from the CDC, IDPH, and WCHD. In addition, you can also read our Studio Protocol documents addressing all activities at The Studio.
Some important notes:

• All Studio Activities (Lessons, Sessions, Dance) will begin September 8th.
This is a change. In talking with families and getting much needed feedback, we’re waiting until after Labor Day to begin programming at The Studio. We discovered that families (including ours!) need some time to navigate the start of school.
Our start date will allow families and students to have a few weeks of school under their belts before adding Studio activities into their schedule. In addition, we are restructuring our spaces and our schedules to keep kids even safer. We’ll need the added time to make these plans happen.

Those who have signed up and paid already will be credited for our adjusted Fall Schedule.

• All Studio Activities will follow strict guidelines.
Our Studio COVID-19 Protocols are linked below.

We are offering both in-person and virtual instruction. Since we are resuming in-person lessons, sessions, classes, and dance, it may look a little different than what you’re used to. Safety and cleaning protocols, mask wearing, and social distancing will be the norm.

• All Studio Activities will be regularly evaluated throughout the semester.
We love that we’re a nimble company. We can pivot and adjust rather quickly. If something isn’t working, we will evaluate and change. In addition, if something is working well, we will apply what we learn to other areas.

We will continue to offer as much as we can to as many kids as we can. We want you to be safe, and just as importantly, we want you to feel safe.

We can’t mitigate the risk to zero. No one can. But we can be smart, considerate, proactive, and pragmatic – and we thank you, sincerely, for supporting the Studio and being a part of this amazing family.

We can’t wait to get started!
